Bio

 

Luna Waves – is Bedford-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Rob Muir. Luna Waves is dark, dreamy, ethereal and atmospheric psych rock/dream pop.

 

Raised on Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden and The Smashing Pumpkins, Rob considers himself a ’90s kid at heart. However, he was exposed to a miscellany of influences – such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix – by his musician father, which have coloured and shaped the Luna Waves sound. 

 

Further inspired by contemporary artists like Tame Impala, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Kurt Vile, Kevin Morby, Melody's Echo Chamber, Daniel Johns, Gemma Hayes, Wild Nothing, Beach House, Slowdive, Sunflower Bean, Wolf Alice and King Buffalo, Luna Waves traverses emotional and ethereal sad pop landscapes, all while wearing its heart on its sleeve.

 

Luna Waves released debut album Seafoam Dream (Part 1) on 27th July 2018, which was favourably received.

Luna Waves immediately followed Seafoam Dream (part 1) by releasing the single Ocean Warm on 9th November 2018. Luna Waves then spent the time between 2018 - 2022 learning Ableton Live, which has enabled Rob to explore his influences and creativity more freely. During this time Luna Waves abandoned Seafoam Dream (Part 2) the originally planned follow up to Seafoam Dream (Part 1).

 

Luna Waves released 2nd album Blood Moon on 25th March 2022 which was Rob Muir’s most ambitious project to date.

At the start of 2022 Rob set the lofty goal of releasing 2 albums within a year. Bruised Gold Rob’s 3rd album as Luna Waves, recorded in Rob’s home studio from April 2022 - June 2022 is due to be released on 18th November 2022. The 12 tracks contained on Bruised Gold are an attempt to bridge the gaps on all of Luna Waves diverse influences and it feels like the most focused record Luna Waves has put out to date.

 

2024 is shaping up to be a big year for Luna Waves. New single Half Awake will be released on Friday 2nd March 2024, closely followed by 4th album Comedowns.
